YUHSD outlines July registration schedule and expanded new-teacher orientation for 2025–26

Semler described registration as a multiday, campus-based process that begins with the senior cohort and ends with freshmen; families are assigned time slots by the first letter of the student’s last name (A–L and M–Z) to ease foot traffic and reduce wait times. Semler said families may register multiple students on the same visit and that campus teams, information-technology, bookstore, communications and health staff coordinate to make registration efficient. The presentation noted the district serves roughly 11,000 students and that online registration is now streamlined so many forms may be completed in advance.
The district will host a centralized new-teacher orientation for all new hires under one roof. Semler said the orientation will provide four full days of district-led professional development (instructional framework, instructional coaches, AVID site coordinators, ed-tech support and other resources) and opportunities to build relationships before teachers report to their campus leaders. The district will also continue campus-level onboarding and intends to use check-ins and surveys during the school year to support first-year teachers.
Semler said the district has made many registration forms fillable as PDFs; some items, such as the Chromebook acknowledgement, can be submitted entirely online. For other forms the current workflow is to download the fillable form, complete and save it, and then email or fax it to district offices for processing. Staff said they are exploring additional online submission options over time.
