Flagstaff council appoints Joanne Keane as city manager

The Flagstaff City Council voted Nov. 4 to appoint Deputy City Manager Joanne Keane as the next city manager and approved the accompanying employment agreement.
Mayor Becky Daggett and staff summarized the recruitment process: an outside firm narrowed dozens of candidates to finalists, finalists participated in interviews and community meet-and-greets on Oct. 22, and two finalists advanced to the final round. Mayor Daggett said the council selected Keane after the evaluation process and vetting by outside counsel.
Council member Matthews moved to appoint and approve the employment agreement. The motion passed on a voice vote. Keane told council she was honored by the appointment: “This is such an honor. I'm so excited to work with all of you and for this incredible organization, community, and our great staff. So I can't wait, and I'm ready to get to work.”
