Commissioners and meeting participants confirmed that two existing lights over the door will remain: one is an emergency/exiting light required by code and the other provides alley illumination. Staff (Colin) confirmed after the Hinsdale Historic Preservation Commission hearing that both lights will remain. The applicant said the existing exterior light has been replaced with an LED fixture that can change color and be brightened in winter months to improve visibility from Second Street. The applicant described the business as intended to be somewhat discreet, but said they will ensure the sign is visible when needed.
Commissioner Klawinski moved to approve Case A-32-2025; Commissioner Moore seconded. The roll call vote was unanimous in favor. No amendments or conditions were added in the meeting record.
During discussion, commissioners and public speakers expressed general support, noting the sign meets code requirements and that maintaining the exit illumination is necessary for safety. The applicant thanked the commission and said the village board of trustees had already approved the liquor license, and that the business looks forward to reopening in Hinsdale soon.
