New owner reports front‑yard flooding at Hickory Lane property; surveyor to investigate

A property owner who bought 6701 East Hickory Lane told the drainage board that a storm drain in front of the house repeatedly floods, causing erosion and preventing a sale. County surveyor and highway staff said they have partially inspected the line, performed televising and jetting, and will continue to trace tile back to a regulated drain.
Grama Page, who said she purchased the property at 6701 East Hickory Lane on March 6, told the board the front yard has experienced repeated flooding and erosion. "It's been causing some flooding in the front yard . . . we're told in about over 7 inches of water," she said, and added that attempts by the highway department to fix the drain have not resolved the problem.
County staff said the drain at that location appears to be connected in part to a regulated drain system but that their records show nonregulated lines in the immediate frontage. Commissioner Shannon Henry and surveyor staff said Cooley had performed televising (camera) work and that several tile locations appeared to have broken down; the surveyor recommended beginning at the tile closest to the complainant's ditch and working back toward the regulated drain to locate and address failures.
The board asked staff to coordinate with the highway superintendent and continue investigation. Page said she had tried to sell the property but could not because of water issues. The surveyor's office and highway department will follow up on camera reports and coordinate potential tile repairs. No formal board action was taken beyond directing staff to inspect and report back.
