San Marcos council adopts 2025–26 strategic plan and adds Transportation Equity Cabinet recommendations

The San Marcos City Council unanimously adopted the City Council Strategic Plan for fiscal year 2025–26 on Feb. 18 and added a narrowly worded amendment to implement recommendations from the San Marcos Transportation Equity Cabinet.
Assistant to the city manager Carrie Fontenot summarized the plan and noted that council had asked staff to incorporate input gathered from community stakeholders and the recent transit‑equity presentation. A councilmember moved to add language directing implementation of Transportation Equity Cabinet recommendations under the mobility and connectivity section; the amendment was seconded and approved 7–0. The council then approved the amended strategic plan by unanimous vote.
Staff said the approved amendment would be reflected in transportation and transit master plans and included in the plan’s implementation schedule; departments responsible for transportation projects will be asked to provide timelines aligned with council direction.
Ending: Council adopted the plan as amended (Resolution 2025‑30R). Staff will coordinate insertion of Transportation Equity Cabinet recommendations into relevant planning documents and bring implementation steps back to council.
