Board approves continuous improvement plans for Dutch Fork, Irmo High and 7 Oaks Elementary

The School District 5 Board of Trustees on Jan. 13 approved continuous improvement plans (CIPs) for Dutch Fork Elementary School, Irmo High School and 7 Oaks Elementary School, each after a principal-level presentation describing progress and next steps.
Rebecca Dilley, principal of Dutch Fork Elementary School — the Academy of Environmental Sciences — said the school has improved climate measures, retained teachers at higher rates and shown MAP growth in reading and math. "We are all in together to love and grow each other and our students," Dilley said as she outlined PLCs, intervention staffing increases and LETRS training. The board approved Dutch Fork’s CIP by a 7–0 vote.
Irmo High School principal Dr. Hampton described efforts to raise the graduation rate and to support multilingual learners (202 students in homes where English is not the only language). Dr. Hampton said weekly student-focus meetings, content/credit recovery and expanded MLL staffing helped support at-risk students; the board approved Irmo High’s CIP 7–0.
7 Oaks interim principal described reestablished PTO, Project Aspire candidacy (IB PYP), targeted after-school tutoring, and supports for 33 McKinney-Vento students; the board approved the 7 Oaks plan 7–0. Trustees asked principals about attendance strategies, translation/MLL scoring supports and requests for board visibility and trust in school leadership.
