Neosho County commissioners voted to pay two invoices tied to the North Elk River Bridge project north of Chanute.
The commission approved payment to Bridges Inc. of $230,760.65 (application number 6) to be paid from ARPA funds, and separately approved $23,115.13 to CFS Engineering for bridge inspection services from the county’s special-bridge account. Both motions passed on recorded voice votes (listed as unanimous, 3-0). Commissioners and staff discussed that the state reimburses 85 percent of certain bridge construction costs but that recent refunds have not yet been posted to the county’s accounts. Staff said the funds appear to have been sent by the state but have not been credited to the correct local accounts; that timing and account-crediting issue will be followed up with the state treasury.
County staff noted the special-bridge account balance and that pilot-fund transfers remain available as a contingency if reimbursements are delayed. The commission directed staff to code the Bridges Inc. payment to ARPA and the CFS payment to special-bridge funds when processing the payments.
Both payments were approved on the record and will be paid as soon as accounting confirms appropriate account coding and expected reimbursements.
