St. Louis Park proclaims Veterans Day and recognizes donations to Shop with a Cop

Mayor Mohammed read the proclamation and said she would sign it. Council members added personal remarks recognizing the service of family members and the importance of honoring veterans from varied backgrounds.
The council also recognized charitable donations to support the Police Department—s annual Shop with a Cop event. Christine Martin, president of the St. Louis Park Rotary (the merged morning and lunchtime clubs), said the Rotary donated $500 and intends to increase its gift next year. "A $500 gift is something very, very small that we can do," Martin said, and told the council Rotary hopes to double the gift next year.
Council also acknowledged a $2,000 donation from the St. Louis Park American Legion Post 282 delivered via Community Charities of Minnesota. Council members described the Shop with a Cop event as a joyful program and encouraged colleagues and residents to participate in volunteer opportunities such as gift wrapping and the event itself.
A consent motion later on the agenda recorded acceptance of the donations and other consent items, including city disbursements and a grant application the city will submit to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Council members used the recognition to underscore community support for youth and for veterans in the city.
