Escambia board moves Jeff Myers case to disciplinary hearing, schedules control date after Santa Rosa appeal

The Escambia County Contractor Competency Board voted Aug. 6 to advance a matter involving Jeffrey W. Myers, doing business as Jeff Myers Construction Inc., to a disciplinary hearing after staff presented Santa Rosa County’s suspension and supporting documents.

Staff told the board Santa Rosa County’s building code board of adjustments had unanimously suspended Myers’ state‑registered residential contractor certificate based on findings the transcript summarized as financial mismanagement and false statements about payment to subcontractors. Escambia staff said Myers’ license had been inactive for two years, five months and 13 days prior to a June 2025 reinstatement attempt and that a reinstatement check initially returned for insufficient funds before payment was made to the clerk of court. Santa Rosa’s disciplinary action prompted Escambia staff to bring the matter before the Escambia board under county provisions that allow consideration of discipline imposed by other jurisdictions.

Myers appeared and said he had filed an appeal in Santa Rosa and had communications with Santa Rosa officials about the appeal. After discussion, the board voted to move the matter to a disciplinary hearing but amended scheduling to set a control date in October so Escambia could consider the outcome of Myers’ pending appeal in Santa Rosa County before a final local action. The board’s motion to move the case to disciplinary stage carried unanimously.

Staff requested the disciplinary hearing be scheduled after the appeal process and noted Escambia could adjust timing if Santa Rosa’s proceedings concluded earlier.
