Escambia County board clears two applicants to sit for contractor exams

The Escambia County Contractor Competency Board voted Aug. 6 to permit two applicants to sit for licensing examinations after staff presented their applications and supporting documents.
Staff recommended that Nathaniel Regulis be permitted to take the doors, windows and siding competency examination. Staff said Regulis has about 15 years of field experience and works as a supervisor at Sessions Contractor Group Incorporated under the supervision of Steve Sessions, who holds an active license (CGC 1508683). After brief questions from board members, the board approved the application to test by unanimous voice/hand vote.
The board also considered an application from Michael Kennedy to sit for the master plumbing examination with gas. Staff said Kennedy had 6 years, 7 months of experience working under a Georgia‑licensed qualifier (license MPR007402) and disclosed a small‑claims record involving American Express in Santa Rosa County. Kennedy provided court records and an explanation in his application packet and brought receipts to address concerns about which corporate entity was involved. After discussion about verifying the court paperwork and Kennedy describing steps he had taken to challenge the claim, the board voted to allow him to take the exam.
No formal sanctions or conditions were placed on either approval. The board’s votes were taken by voice/hand; staff recorded a unanimous result for both motions.
Board Secretary confirmed a quorum of eight members was present for the meeting.
