Monroe County Commissioners approve routine bids, budget adjustments and appointments; grants and purchases ratified

The Monroe County Commissioners on Nov. 5 approved a series of routine administrative actions, including minutes, bid openings, vendor awards, budget adjustments, grant reallocations and capital purchases.

Among the approvals: commissioners approved the Oct. 15 meeting minutes and ratified a memorandum of understanding amendment between Monroe County Victim Services and Women’s Resources of Monroe County doing business as Safe Monroe.

The board ratified the opening of bids and awarded vendor contracts for county goods and services for 2026 (correctional and deputy sheriff uniforms awarded to Star Uniform; fuel oil to Stiff Oil; inmate uniforms and supplies to Bob Barker; janitorial supplies to W.B. Mason and others; office supplies and toner awards as listed on the record). The commissioners also approved vendor additions to the county’s approved‑vendor lists for several offices, including the district attorney and public defender.

Fiscal actions approved included a budget-adjustment report dated 2025 totaling $70,736 (moves among departmental lines such as cameras for probation, scanner for corrections and program expenses for emergency management) and a larger budget adjustment dated 11/05/25 totaling $343,000 (children and youth reallocations and transfers from contingency and opioid‑settlement funds to cover anticipated expenses). The board ratified opioid‑settlement allocations and grant awards consistent with the settlement exhibit, including $10,000 to Guardian Angel Recovery House and smaller awards to treatment initiatives.

The commissioners approved capital outlay purchases totaling $16,368.10 and computer capital purchases totaling $96,278.88 that included a countywide computer refresh, two portable radios for courts and camera-related purchases for the correctional facility.

Appointments and reappointments approved on the record included members for the Area Agency on Aging advisory council, the Monroe County Hospital Authority, and reappointments to the Conservation District (names and terms were read into the record). The board also authorized the chief clerk to advertise 2026 meeting dates and the 2026 budget schedule and approved a use permit for Courthouse Square for a tree‑lighting event on Nov. 28.
