Student board members reported results from pilot student voice surveys and recapped recent homecoming activities during the Oct. 7 East Meadow Union Free School District meeting.
One student board member said a first student survey was sent to every social studies class and that about 500 students from East Meadow High School responded. The student said the most-favored parts of homecoming week were the homecoming dance and the football game (each cited by roughly 30 percent of respondents) and that 80 percent of respondents said the school "always" or "sometimes" listens to and values student input.
A Clark High School student reported about 200 student responses to a Clark survey pilot and said the game, the pep rally and the band parade were highlighted as favorites. Both student speakers called for continued surveying and methods to increase participation and said clubs and activities were restarting for the school year.
Student board members and administrators thanked PTAs, staff and volunteers for support at events. No formal board action was taken; the reports were provided as informational updates.
