Sylvia Barrett, a Queen Creek resident of more than 30 years, used her public‑comment time to urge the council to rescind its support for the Resolution Copper project. Barrett said the project would dig 30 wells in the San Tan Valley area that would each “be pumping 400 gallons per minute for 40 years,” and that the operation would include running a 22‑mile copper concentrate pipeline from Superior to a filter and loadout facility. She warned that pipeline breaks would cause “an environmental disaster.”

Barrett cited the 2025 FEIS and said it projects “2 to 4 feet of subsidence” in the area; she said fissures in Queen Creek show the type of damage that subsidence can cause and asked the council to contact the governor and attorney general to intervene. Barrett raised concerns about water allocation and electrical infrastructure upgrades and asked who ultimately would get the water (Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Superstition Vistas, or Resolution Copper).
