Molly Jacobs, director of the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center, presented an annual recap to council, saying the center hosted “over 425 events” in the year and described programming that ranges from family theater to a center‑stage series. Jacobs highlighted efforts to keep tickets affordable (she cited family ticket prices in the mid‑teens) and described new initiatives including a Queen Creek Academy to train directors and volunteers and grant programming in support of local schools and arts groups.
Jacobs noted significant youth participation in shows and recounted that Matilda will feature two casts and extensive youth involvement. Two community members who use the center described its personal importance: Krista Richards said the center allowed her family to continue participating after moving and enabled her to work in the arts; Mary Simmons described the center as a lifeline after a bereavement and urged continued town support.
Council members praised the center’s community role and attendance. Council member Benning described the center as “a family that plays together that stays together.” The presentation was informational; no formal council action was taken during this agenda item.
