Jennifer Lindley, the town’s downtown development manager, told the Town Council that Downtown Queen Creek currently has “approximately $200,000,000 of private investment and just under 230,000 square feet of commercial projects under construction.” She said the figure is a sign of confidence from developers and described multiple projects in varying stages of construction and permitting.
The list of projects Lindley cited includes a 124‑room, four‑story hotel; The Perch (about 62,000 square feet of commercial development including a brewery); the Switchyard development (roughly 48,000 square feet in phase 1 with announced tenants such as Postino’s, Shake Shack and Snooze); a redeveloped Magma Plaza; a revamped Circle K concept; Rusty Buckles Saloon at Ellsworth and Ocotillo; and the Matheson project that would add office space. Lindley said the Perch and other projects are expected to open in 2026 and 2027, and that some projects remain under construction or permit review.
Lindley presented historical context, saying the town had about 4,000 square feet of construction underway in 2023 and now has nearly 230,000 square feet under construction. To help frame community perception, staff will roll out a “growth” marketing campaign with signage and a social media reel inviting residents to “view construction as a sign of progress.” The reel shown to council said in part, “Queen Creek is getting a glow up…Nearly 230,000 square feet of commercial projects are currently under construction.”
Council members praised the presentation. Council member Benning said the activity creates “economic spillover” beyond the downtown core. The presentation concluded with an affirmation from council that staff should continue outreach and recruitment for new applicants and tenants.
The presentation was informational; no formal action was taken. Lindley directed residents to investtheqc.com for additional details and indicated campaign elements would appear in the next few weeks.
