TDOT updates: Statewide Partnership Program deadlines, planning grants and staff transitions

A TDOT representative updated the Technical Committee on statewide funding and planning opportunities and on departmental personnel changes.
TDOT staff reviewed the Statewide Partnership Program (SPP), noting the program helps TDOT prioritize statewide investments but does not replace local prioritization by MPOs and local governments. The representative encouraged jurisdictions to coordinate with TPO staff early because SPP applications require sponsor endorsements and deliverability considerations; staff cautioned members to verify local endorsement before promising local matches or commitments in applications. The SPP submission deadline cited in the presentation is Aug. 29.
The representative also said TDOT planning grants will be announced in late summer (applications expected in August/September, with awards by December) and described typical planning grant uses including corridor or TISMO studies and inventories that TDOT has funded at 80–90 percent with local match. Members were encouraged to coordinate with TPO staff for application support.
TDOT staff announced personnel changes including retirements and leadership transitions; the presenter said regional leadership would continue operations during the transition and that TDOT would provide updates when replacements are named.
"There are a few things in there that you may have to talk to your city or county governments about specifically to get the endorsement," the TDOT representative said of the SPP application process.
