Officials told the board the district already has accident coverages in place and a supplemental insurance program available; the business office reported the optional policy would be underused and premiums have risen substantially. "The premiums are going way up," a business-office representative said during committee discussion.
The finance and facilities committee voted 3-0 to recommend declining the policy. Chairman Keith Shaw moved the recommendation to the full board; after brief discussion about rising insurance costs and limited benefit, the board approved the recommendation by voice vote. The board directed no further action on acquiring that optional policy for the 2025–26 year.
