Fulshear issues proclamations for FASD awareness and Constitution Week; council recognizes local youth fundraiser

Mayor Don McCoy read and signed a proclamation declaring Sept. 9, 2025 as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day, citing that FASD affects people across backgrounds and that early diagnosis and intervention can improve outcomes. Deb Ambrosi and others spoke during public comment to raise awareness of FASD.
The council also proclaimed Constitution Week (Sept. 17 anniversary) at the request of the Daughters of the American Revolution and recognized community service by 11-year-old Brinley Kronauer, who raised $2,650 for All Hands and Hearts following the July 4 floods in Central Texas. Mayor McCoy presented a local "heart award" to Brinley.
Separately, Murali Wadaga, a resident, spoke to the council during public comment about Raksha Bandhan and the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh USA—s community outreach tied to Universal Oneness Day; council accepted the remarks and noted the group—s visit to civic leaders.
The proclamations are ceremonial and do not change city policy; the mayor and staff said they would follow up with photo opportunities and outreach.
