Fulshear council appoints first Youth Advisory Commission members

The Fulshear City Council on Sept. 16 appointed nine students and two alternates to the new Youth Advisory Commission (YAC).
Mayor Don McCoy read the list of appointed students and council approved Resolution 2025-688 with an amendment setting term-expiration dates to June 1, 2026 so the commission—s membership aligns with the school year. The appointees include students from local high schools; staff and council said they will work to expand outreach to other schools for subsequent recruitment cycles.
Councilmember Barron will serve as council liaison for the commission, staff said. Council members praised the applicants— qualifications and noted several appointed students are sophomores and juniors, which will allow continuity as seniors graduate.
Staff will coordinate orientation and next steps so the Youth Advisory Commission can begin meetings and advise on youth-focused programming.
