Buckeye honors state legislators for work on water, housing and transportation

City staff recognized members of Buckeye's state legislative delegation for work on urban water legislation, a compromise on food tax policy, housing protections and securing transportation funding to begin I-10 widening.
John Raider, the city's chief government affairs officer, presented formal recognition on Nov. 4 to members of Buckeye's state legislative delegation and praised their partnership on several policy areas.
"With their help, 2025 was a successful year for the city at the legislature," Raider said, highlighting passage of urban water legislation, a compromise on food tax policy, efforts to preserve local input on housing legislation, work on sober-living home regulations, and transportation funding to begin I-10 widening.
Mayor Osborne and other council members thanked the delegation and the city's intergovernmental staff for maintaining relationships that, the mayor said, help the city advance priorities. Representatives Michael Garbon, Nick Capra and Mariana Sanlovo were named during the presentation; Senator Dunn was noted as expected to arrive later.
Raider and council members encouraged continued collaboration as the legislature proceeds, and a group photo followed the presentation. No formal council action or vote was recorded as part of the recognition.
