Yukon awards Route 66 illuminated sign contract to MetroSign for $160,360; only one bidder met specs

The Yukon City Council voted Nov. 4 to accept MetroSign's bid of $160,360 to fabricate and install a 15-foot illuminated Route 66 sign at 313 East Main.
Christina, the city's community arts coordinator, told the council the city held a mandatory pre-bid meeting Oct. 16, received four bids, and that only MetroSign met the final specifications after a specification clarification period and addendum; she recommended awarding to MetroSign. "It's the only one that did," Christina said of the bid that met the final specs.
Staff said $100,000 had already been budgeted for the sign program and the remaining approximately $60,360 would come from savings identified in the capital account; finance staff said the capital budget has additional funds and that a memo identifying realized savings would be provided before expenditure. Council members asked for documentation showing where savings were found before the funds are spent.
Council approved the award by roll call with no recorded opposition. Staff set an expected completion target of May 1, 2026, acknowledging weather and other contingencies.
