Councilors and staff discuss 'white glove' service for developers as land‑use workshops are planned

A resident urged the Finance Committee to pursue a coordinated, city‑wide "white glove" service to streamline processes for incoming and expanding businesses.
"If we're gonna be diving into impact fees and land use... we should coincide some of these other portions... and get this whole business friendly thing done in one swipe," Jared, a resident, told the committee.
Staff agreed the effort should include both ordinance updates (parking requirements, building height, permit simplification) and operational/process improvements to make the city's front‑line customer service more consistent. "It's not just the ordinance piece — it's how you come through our system," Speaker 1 said, stressing that developers often cite process and customer service as pain points.
Staff said the request for proposals for ordinance work specifically called for process review in addition to code updates and that the city will include outreach, workshops and opportunities for developer feedback in the coming months.
Why it matters: proactive business‑friendliness can affect local economic growth, investment decisions and public perceptions of municipal competence.
Next steps: staff will include the subject in the planned land‑use workshops (January–February) and solicit input from developers and existing business owners.
