Ordinances introduced for open-space acquisitions and rezoning; council approves consent agenda

The Monroe Township Council handled several procedural and voting items during the Aug. 4 regular meeting.

Ordinances

Deputy Clerk read three ordinances for first reading. Ordinance O82025019 is a bond ordinance providing for the acquisition of North Disbrow Hill Road for open-space purposes; the ordinance appropriates $2,635,000 and authorizes the issuance of $2,509,500 in bonds or notes to finance part of the cost. Ordinance O82025020 authorizes acquisition (by negotiated agreement and donation) of real property designated on the tax map as Block 2, Lot 1 and Block 3, Lot 25 (off North Disbrow Hill Road) for open-space and recreation purposes. Ordinance O82025021 amends Chapter 108, Article 6 (zoning district regulations) to rezone the Highway Development District along Butcher Road. Each ordinance was moved, seconded and approved by roll call for introduction (first reading).

Consent agenda and resolutions

Council considered resolutions R82025-150 through R82025-170 under the consent agenda. Council approved the consent agenda with three resolutions pulled for separate consideration (R158, R163 and R164). Those held resolutions were then read and approved; one roll-call vote recorded an abstention by Councilman Zapiro on the held-item vote as noted in the transcript.

Procedural notes

The council approved payment of claims (run date 07/30/2025) and approved minutes of prior meetings by roll call.
