Delaware County commissioners approve routine claims, insurance payments and multiple administrative actions

The Delaware County Board of County Commissioners on June 24, 2025, approved a slate of routine administrative actions and several large insurance payments during a meeting that ran from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The board unanimously approved payment of claims across county funds, signed affidavits for the June 30 payroll and accepted a $40 bid from Gumercindo Guzman for Flint Ridge 1 Amended Lots 86 and 87 in the Deer Creek area on behalf of the treasurer. Commissioners also opened sealed bids for demolition and replacement of the former Delaware School floor and roof and took the bids under advisement.

Major budget items included approval of a single payment of $184,361 to ACCO for workers’ compensation insurance and a single payment of $753,073 to ACCO for property and liability insurance. Commissioners noted a two-installment option for each that would increase total cost; the board voted to make single payments from the General Fund.

The board approved Bank of Grand Lake lease-purchase documents for a 2025 Mack Granite remount purchased from Bruckner’s under State Contract SW35T, with financing for 10 years at a fixed 4.53% interest rate. The board also approved reimbursement to the County Election Board for personal services, part-time help, travel and maintenance and operations pursuant to Title 62, Section 335 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

Two sealed bids for demolition/replacement of the former Delaware School floor were opened: Absolute Royalty Roofing ($35,000) and Brookside Construction ($38,500). For the roof, the two bids were Absolute Royalty Roofing ($85,000) and Brookside Construction ($106,720). The board took both bid openings under advisement and did not award either contract at the meeting.

Other routine business carried unanimously: receiving and filing officers for the Delaware County Health Department and OSU Extension for fiscal year 2025–26, approving contract renewals for several Health Department vendors, forwarding case CV‑25‑72 (Vickie L. Hicks v. David P. Johnson, et al.) to the District Attorney, and accepting a $500 donation from Southwest City Commercial Club to the sheriff’s office.

Roll calls for motions recorded in the minutes show Commissioners David Poindexter, Jake Callihan and David Beck voted yes on each motion taken.
