Commissioners approve plats, accept construction sureties and authorize utility easement, plus several routine transfers

The Comal County Commissioners Court on Aug. 7 approved a slate of development and infrastructure items, including acceptance of road construction, final plats, construction-bond actions and a utility easement to New Braunfels Utilities.

Roads and plats: The court accepted construction of roads and stormwater drainage improvements in Meyer Ranch Unit 13 into the county road-maintenance system, recommended release of the associated irrevocable standby letter of credit (NUSCGS048246), and directed county staff to execute PIPRO permit 109026. The court also approved an amending final plat for the Overlook at Canyon Lake subdivision to reconfigure lot lines so steep-contour lots are more buildable.

Construction bonds: The court accepted a one-year extension of the construction surety for The Landing Unit 1 while the city of New Braunfels finalizes its acceptance. It also accepted construction bonds for Kenwood Unit 2 and Kenwood Unit 2A for road and other improvements, and accepted a $4,000,007.06 surety for water and wastewater improvements within Mayfair Parcel EA3 (a commercial tract with utilities).

Street names and easement: Commissioners approved naming a private road Rodas Avenue (30500 block of Krieger Road) and another private road Legacy Oaks Way (8800 block of FM 306). The court also granted a water easement to New Braunfels Utilities tied to the recycled waterline project and Resource Drive relocation; staff said the line improved pressure and fire protection for the county—s mulch area and added hydrants and a 30-foot entrance drive.

Interlocal and transfers: The court approved an interlocal agreement authorizing the county tax assessor-collector to provide tax-assessing and collection services for Simmons Valley Municipal Utility District. The court approved several routine line-item transfers: reallocating commissioners-travel funds to support Precinct 1 continuing education, moving funds from voting-equipment maintenance to a poll-pad software subscription in Elections, and transferring funds in Environmental Health from office supplies to supplies for lab testing.
