Commissioners hear a round-up of smaller county items: planning appointments, parks, DEM and grants

The board received a number of shorter briefings and administrative items during the Nov. 3 meeting:
- Planning: Staff reported three openings on the Planning Advisory Commission and said a work session on the comprehensive plan is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 10 (afternoon). Staff will circulate updated drafts for review.
- Historic Preservation: The Historic Preservation Committee recommended the reappointment of Caleb Coles to the Mason County Historic Preservation Commission; commissioners expressed support and staff will return with formal reappointment paperwork.
- Parks: Staff proposed a CPI-based increase in park rental rates; commissioners indicated support for the resolution to update rates and staff will place it on the action agenda.
- Emergency Management: John and new training-and-exercise coordinator Tammy (incoming) introduced Tammy, who said she has search-and-rescue experience and will focus on training and exercises; staff also reported a server grant in procurement that will support training platforms.
- CDBG: Staff briefed the board on a subrecipient agreement with Media Action Council for a community development block grant; staff intends to place the subrecipient agreement on the Nov. 25 action agenda for the chair's signature.
- Grants: Staff noted that OPD secured a roughly $123,500 grant for general improvements and said staff will place the item for action on an upcoming agenda.
No formal votes were recorded on these items during the briefing; staff will return with resolutions or contracts where needed.
