County schedules Dec. 9 public hearing on draft five-year homeless housing plan to meet Commerce deadlines

County staff told the Board of Commissioners on Nov. 3 that the county's draft five-year local homeless housing plan — developed over the summer by contracted facilitators using a summit, stakeholder interviews and community surveys — is ready for public review and must be submitted to the Washington State Department of Commerce in December.
Staff said Commerce requires a public hearing and two weeks' notice; commissioners approved advertising and scheduling a public hearing for Dec. 9 and agreed staff may release the draft for public review immediately so the two-week notice requirement can be met. Staff said the plan is community-driven and expects local providers to take ownership of many implementation actions.
Commissioners discussed calendar constraints in December but agreed the hearing can be scheduled and advertised. Staff will return with the finalized public-hearing agenda and any changes requested by the board following public comment.
