Commission recognizes WTS award recipients and perpetual pavement winners

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission on Nov. 18 received awards presentations from Women in Transportation and the Oklahoma Asphalt Pavement Association, including the inaugural WTS Oklahoma Ray LaHood award to TJ Dill and multiple perpetual pavement awards for Oklahoma projects.
The commission paused routine business for a series of recognitions.
Sarah Keller of Women in Transportation (WTS) presented the inaugural WTS Oklahoma Ray LaHood award to Travis ("TJ") Dill, the chief engineer of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (named to that post in December 2024). Keller described the award's intent to honor people who have advanced transportation while advocating for women in the industry and highlighted TJ Dill's career progression from drafting technician to chief engineer. "TJ's journey is a testament to dedication, perseverance, and vision," Keller said.
Chairwoman Nicole Miller was recognized as WTS Woman of the Year by the Oklahoma chapter.
Larry Patrick, executive director of the Oklahoma Asphalt Pavement Association, presented perpetual pavement awards and listed multiple winning projects and districts, including perpetual pavement by design for US 69 in McIntosh County (District 1 Muskogee residency) and perpetual pavement by conversion on I‑40 (District 4 Yukon residency). The Asphalt Pavement Alliance representatives said nine awards came to Oklahoma and two additional awards were being added.
The commission acknowledged the presentations and proceeded with the remainder of the agenda.
