District staff reported progress on the 2022 bond: Transportation facility 96% complete, Barnes Middle School about 97% complete and preparing for punch‑list work, Ag Science facility mid‑construction including a 162,000‑gallon fire tank foundation, and McQueeney Elementary roughly 72–75% complete with TxDOT coordination for frontage work.
Seguin ISD project managers told trustees the district’s 2022 bond projects are moving toward completion, with most sites on track and a handful of punch‑list items remaining.
"Transportation currently is 96% complete," project manager Troy Spear said, listing finished items including a perimeter fence, asphalt driveway and a new bus storage bay. He added that the contractor’s outstanding items are largely cosmetic: paint touch‑ups, cleanup and a single parking‑lot light that will be replaced.
Barnes Middle School is nearly finished: the contractor reached substantial completion and teams are addressing minor punch‑list items such as door closures and finish work, while furniture and learning‑space furnishings are in place. "The library and cafeteria are finished and students are using the spaces," district staff said.
The agricultural science complex is under construction. Crews have erected the main building and a poultry barn, started CMU block work for restrooms and are installing electrical service. Project staff noted a 162,000‑gallon fire water tank foundation has been installed and the site will include dedicated pens for livestock, swine and poultry.
McQueeney Elementary is roughly three‑quarters complete; the kitchen equipment and masonry facades are in place and interior finishes are advancing. The district and its engineers are coordinating with TxDOT on a proposed right‑of‑way traffic improvement and turn lane in front of the school; the board later authorized administration to negotiate an agreement with TxDOT for frontage improvements.
Budget and timing: Bond managers said none of the active projects exceed their budgets and that the board will later consider how to allocate remaining bond funds and interest revenue. They estimated a February substantial completion target for McQueeney, with furniture and technology equipment moving in between March and June, and classes scheduled to begin in the new building the following school year.
What trustees asked: Trustees asked about sequencing items for move‑in and the timing of traffic work with TxDOT. Board and staff noted that some punch‑list items may extend beyond physical substantial completion but said campuses will receive time for transition, training, and FF&E (furniture, fixtures and equipment) installation before students occupy spaces.
