Nolan and community members recounted that the program provides free swim lessons to hundreds of children each year and offers summer jobs and lifeguard training for local youth. Several residents, including organizers and past program participants, offered personal testimonials on how the pool broadened recreational and employment opportunities.
The commission celebrated the renaming with remarks highlighting the program's impact on drowning prevention and youth employment; no formal vote was recorded beyond the ceremonial proclamation.
