Westland Parks & Recreation announces winter classes, market dates and opens 30‑day review of 2025–29 master plan

Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Mulligan told the council the department's winter drawing and painting classes for children (ages 5–12) and adults will run four consecutive Thursdays beginning Jan. 9; an eight‑week Tai Chi beginners course will meet Wednesday mornings from Jan. 22 through March 12.
Mulligan said all materials are included in the class registration cost and that the Farmers & Artisans Market and pavilion rentals between Memorial Day and Labor Day will open to the public with rental availability posted on Jan. 3. He provided the department's recreation portal as the registration source and offered a phone contact (734‑722‑7620) and an email for master plan comments (kmulligan@cityofwestland.com).
Mulligan also announced the Parks & Recreation Department has released a draft 2025–2029 master plan following input from residents, community leaders and the advisory council. The draft is in a 30‑day public review period through Jan. 9, 2025 and hard copies are available at City Hall, Jefferson Barnes, the Westland Library and the Friendship Center. Residents may email comments to the parks department for consideration during the review period.
