Moab City Council opened the first public hearing on the 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program on Dec. 10. Staff explained the federal program’s requirement that funded activities primarily benefit low‑ and moderate‑income persons and described eligible activities.
Mark from the city engineering department said staff proposes to apply for $200,000 in CDBG funds to construct ADA curb ramps (about 25 ramps) and roughly 10,000 square feet of sidewalk. The city would contribute approximately $200,000 as a local match to enlarge the project; staff noted CDBG funding carries additional federal requirements and compliance steps that can increase project cost and administration. Mark said the CDBG project would be kept administratively separate from a larger sidewalk project already budgeted for $315,000.
No members of the public spoke at the hearing. Staff said this was the required first public hearing and that a second hearing and final board action would follow later in the funding cycle.
