St. Francois County commissioners start formal vacation process for two undeveloped road segments near Dee Dee Highway

Officials discussed notification and signage for adjacent property owners and confirmed that property ownership along the former rights-of-way typically splits to adjacent owners after vacation; staff said many of the parcels on these nineteenth-century plats have been informally maintained by neighbors for years. Commissioners instructed staff to proceed with the posted notice and vacation process required by state law.
The motion to start the process passed on an affirmative voice vote. The commission did not approve any final transfer of title at the meeting; the vote authorized only the statutory notice and vacation process that precedes any final action.
