Council hears three appointments and a library reappointment; one trustee absent

On Nov. 5 the Newark Municipal Council presented several mayoral appointments and a library reappointment during the pre-meeting and regular session.
Ashraf Latif appeared in chambers for the mayor’s appointment to the Newark Housing Authority board. Latif thanked the mayor and council and said, "After reviewing the ordinances in the Newark Housing Authority, I'm excited to work with the team to ensure every Newark family has access to safe, dignified, and affordable housing." Council members offered endorsements and congratulations; Councilman Gonzales said he has known Latif for about 20 years and would sponsor the nomination.
Reverend Dr. Andrea Lynn Lewis approached the podium for an appointment to the Alcoholic Beverage Control board. She expressed appreciation for the assignment; Councilwoman Scott Rountree sponsored her nomination, saying, "I just wanna sponsor reverend doctor Second. Andrea Lynn Lewis to ABC. Congratulations. And I know you're gonna serve in excellence."
The council noted Kimberly Clark, a nominee to serve on the Newark Public Library board, was not present and said they would return to her appointment if she arrives. Miguel Rodriguez was presented for reappointment to the library board and council members confirmed the correct spelling "Rodriguez" when noted.
No formal roll-call votes were recorded in the public transcript for these items during the Nov. 5 session; sponsors and seconds were entered on the record for appointments.
