Board approves amendment and CBC change order to keep plant lines in service during valve work

Separately, staff described a CBC construction change order needed to keep the 24-inch line in service while crews cut out and set new 24- and 36-inch sections and to install valve boxes for future access. That change order added $35,000, bringing the CBC portion of the contract to approximately $668,360. Staff emphasized the work is complex because crews must maintain flow; shutdowns are limited to six to eight hours at a time.
Board members asked whether further change orders were expected; staff said none were foreseen and that contingency funds were in place. The board approved the SSR amendment and the CBC change order by voice vote.
Staff said the SSR amendment will come from reserves and that the larger construction contract will proceed with CBC as the contractor.
