Series of public-way and easement closures presented for redevelopment and safety improvements

Public works staff presented three separate closure requests and recommended approval in each case, with the items placed on the Oct. 15 City Council agenda.
East 80 Fifth (Forkwood 2 addition): Staff said the street alignment was changed to improve sight distance and turning safety, that two properties were acquired as part of the realignment, and that the new road will be known as 80 Fifth Place to avoid address changes. Staff also described easement and access provisions and said adjacent property owners were engaged during design.
809 S. Lewis (Highlands addition): Staff described a partial closure of a previously dedicated easement where no current occupancy exists; utilities and city reviewers raised no objections and staff recommended approval to allow redevelopment to proceed.
2740 E. 201st (West Bank Storage): Staff said redevelopment altered the old drainage route and that a portion of an overland drainage easement is no longer needed; floodplain areas will remain protected by easement and staff indicated no objections from agencies or utilities.
Committee members asked clarifying questions about sight-distance, utilities and access easements. All three items were scheduled for council consideration on Oct. 15.
