Board approves waterline, asbestos abatement and paving contracts for Star and Jerusalem schools
Summary

The Oregon Board of Education on July 15 approved three separate contracts for campus maintenance and safety work.
For Star Elementary, the board approved a $60,000 contract with Hildebrand & Son to replace and repair the water line from Star Avenue into the building, including basement piping replacement and installation of a backflow preventer. The board discussed prior work by the contractor and confirmed there had been no issues (00:12:13).
At Jerusalem Elementary the board accepted a low quote from Midwest Environmental of $21,964 to remove asbestos tile from 10 classrooms. Two other bids were recorded: Total Environment at $26,006.90 and HEPA Environmental Services at $33,995; the board moved and approved the lowest bid (00:16:40).
For the Star Elementary entryway reconfiguration the board accepted a Buck Brothers Asphalt Heating and Concrete proposal for $74,999, the lowest of the bids collected by the city. Board members discussed scheduling so paving would not interfere with an end-of-July event at the site (00:15:00).
All three contracts were approved by roll call during new business.
