Human Resources staff told the board that HR has hired 89 new employees so far this school year (54 classified and 30 certificated plus additional specialists) and described a multi‑pronged plan to improve leadership development, standardize evaluation and document progressive improvement.
Ken Wagner, introduced by HR lead Sean Prima, said the HR team’s priorities include strengthening relationships with site leaders, supporting principals with calibrated evaluation systems and providing consistent, fact‑based documentation and progressive interventions for employees who need support. Wagner said HR’s work began with a leadership retreat and training on documentation best practices, and will include principal calibration sessions and ongoing coaching to align expectations across the district.
Wagner and Prima highlighted operational numbers: the HR department supported onboarding for 89 new employees this year and worked on credential, leave and substitute processes. They said the district will emphasize standardized evaluation tools, constructive feedback, and leadership development so that evaluation is an ongoing improvement process rather than a one‑time event.
Trustees asked clarifying questions; the district said it would continue to refine timelines and share materials that will be used to support calibration and site‑level implementation.
