The Troutdale City Council on July 8 authorized a real property purchase of 921 South Buxton Road, the site of Troutdale Community Church, for $1,100,000.
City staff told the council the parcel is about 2 acres and includes a building of a little more than 4,000 square feet that, based on inspections and contractor bids, would cost about $400,000 to renovate (walls, roofing, electrical) to accommodate consolidated downtown city offices. Staff said the property includes parking and sits centrally within the city, which staff argued makes it a practical long‑term site for a future stick‑built city hall campus.
Staff reported that due diligence is complete: a comprehensive inspection, a title report, a sewer camera inspection and contractor bids supported a renovation budget; an appraisal came in at approximately $1.08 million. Staff said the seller (the church) intends to close concurrently on a nearby replacement facility and that the city aims to close on the Buxton Road purchase in August and pursue renovations with an anticipated move of downtown offices in about a year.
No public commenters addressed the matter during the meeting. The council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by roll‑call vote.
