Staff explained the negotiated salary is slightly above the midpoint for the recruitment range and is set at 1% above the second highest paid city employee to avoid a direct subordinate earning more than the city manager. The staff report and negotiated agreement were included in the council packet.
A member of the public asked where Weston is coming from; staff said he is currently city manager in King City, Oregon. After brief public comment and questions, the council approved the resolution appointing Michael Weston. The vote was recorded by roll call and passed unanimously.
