Judge Stephanie Boyd found that Katrina Goodwin violated condition number 2 of her supervision by using a controlled substance and adjudicated guilt in 2017 CR 3456W. Goodwin pled "True" to the violation during the hearing. The state recommended a one-year extension with intensive monitoring, but the court concluded repeated violations and the defendant's supervision history made probation inappropriate.
The court granted the state's motion, revoked community supervision, adjudicated guilt and sentenced Goodwin to four years in prison. The court ordered restitution in the amount of $6,977.11 payable to U-Haul, credited her for any time served and recommended therapeutic-community placement. The judge discussed rights to appeal and told Goodwin that limited appeal rights remained as to motion-phase issues; she explained that the court did not have authority to force placement in the therapeutic program but would assist in placement referrals upon release.
Probation and counsel discussed the defendant's prior compliance history and inpatient-completion credits. The judge noted the need for the defendant to request such placement and told her, "If you're released from prison, if you can't find a place that can help you, you can always come back to court. If I'm here, I'll make sure they find a place for you."
