Local foundation tells board it feeds 200-plus families and runs youth leadership programming

Angela Caraway addressed the board during public comment to describe ongoing community work by the Caraway Foundation. She said the foundation partners with Food for Families to distribute food every second and fourth Wednesday and that more than 200 families — many with three to four school-age children and a large population of grandparent caregivers — use the service.
Caraway also highlighted the Anson Youth Leaders Academy, now in its seventh year in partnership with Anson County Schools, and referred to a recent “blacks in wax” event where seventh- and eighth-graders performed as civil-rights leaders. She invited board members and community volunteers to support the foundation’s activities and to participate in youth leadership events.
Chairman Truman thanked her for the update and connected the foundation’s work to forthcoming district student-mentoring and community-engagement initiatives.
