After a multi-stage search, the board heard from finalist Laura Stebner (currently St. Cloud Schools); she told the board she will start July 1 pending board approval and described her background in curriculum, gifted services and elementary instructional leadership.
Human Resources Director Rob Daneker introduced Laura Stebner as the unanimous finalist for the district's Director of Teaching and Learning and described a multi-stage search that began with 33 applicants and included screening committees and semifinal onsite interviews.
Stebner, who currently works in the St. Cloud School District and lives in Monticello, said she has 11 years on a teaching and learning team, experience building a gifted-and-talented program and six years as a director of elementary education. She told the board she is "honored and grateful and thrilled" to join Monticello and said she would not leave her current role "unless it was really special." Stebner said her children attend Monticello schools and that her involvement as a parent and volunteer informed her interest in the position. She closed her remarks saying, "I won't let you down."
Rob Daneker told the board the committees found one candidate stood out across all interview panels and that Stebner was the common top choice. Daneker said the candidate's anticipated start date is July 1, pending formal board approval. The meeting included introductions and congratulatory remarks; no formal hire vote was recorded during the Feb. 24 session.
