Council to apply for final AIP grant installment to finish terminal expansion

Cedar City will submit an FAA Airport Improvement Program application for the final year of funding for the terminal expansion project, with $1.3 million available and a 5% city match already budgeted.
Tyler, the airport manager, told the council the city is preparing the official application for the fourth year of FAA AIP funding allocated to the terminal expansion project under the bipartisan infrastructure law.
"This is the next year of funding, the fourth year, with an available amount of 1,300,000.0. And so this would be the final draw of that grant to complete the terminal project, reimbursements," Tyler said. He added the FAA asked whether the city wanted to wait until project completion or submit now; staff elected to submit now to move the reimbursement process forward.
The grant would carry the same 5% city match the project already budgeted. Council agreed to place the grant authorization on the consent agenda for formal approval at a subsequent meeting.
No material disagreements or alternate funding sources were raised during the work session.
