Kootenai County commissioners approved a three‑year vehicle maintenance agreement with Kootenai Truck and Auto Repair on Feb. 4, with a contract ceiling of $75,000 to provide maintenance and repair for paratransit vehicles.
Chad Engel, representing the Transit department, said the agreement covers the county's cutaway and van units identified in Exhibit A. "This is an agreement with Kootenai Truck and Auto Repair to provide maintenance and repair for our paratransit vehicles with a term of 3 years and a total value not to exceed $75,000," Engel said.
Commissioners pressed staff on which model years and specific vehicles are covered. Exhibit A lists 2016 Chevrolet models, 2019 Ford E‑450s and 2023 Ford E‑450 cutaways as the makes/years covered. Commissioners asked that VIN numbers be included in an amendment where possible so maintenance can be tracked to specific assets; transit staff said the county prefers to list makes/models and years rather than VINs to preserve flexibility for future vehicle purchases, but agreed to confirm that the listed vehicles appear on the county asset list.
The motion to approve the agreement passed by voice vote.
Next steps: transit staff will verify that the listed vehicles appear on the county asset list and will return with any necessary amendments or VIN details if available.
