Golf director proposes modest fee increases; council asks about resident pricing

Barnes described the course as municipally owned and argued the increase would keep the facility financially sustainable without substantially reducing play. Council members asked for comparable pricing in nearby markets, whether the course should use resident vs. nonresident rates, and whether local discounts could be implemented. A public commenter asked why the city does not already charge residents a different rate.
Barnes said residents have asked about resident/nonresident pricing and that staff can prepare a study for council review. Council directed staff to place the fee adjustment on the action calendar for a future formal consideration; no final vote was taken at the work meeting.
