County to return $7,032 in unspent juvenile-justice funds from FY23 to state, staff say

Forsyth County budget staff on Jan. 16 asked the Board to approve an amendment to return $7,032 in unspent Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) funds from fiscal year 2023 to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.
Budget Director Kyle Wolf said the amendment covers $7,032 (about 0.7% of FY23 JCPC allocations) from three programs that did not spend all of their FY23 appropriations: $5,868 from the Children’s Center of Surrey, $446 from the YWCA Work & Earn It program and $690 from the Youth Collaborative Project X intensive program. Wolf said the Children’s Center of Surrey returned most of their FY24 allocation and did not receive funding in FY25 because it closed.
“...we are dealing with fiscal year 'twenty 3 funds. We're in FY 'twenty 5. But it is necessary to return $7,032 or 0.7 percent of unspent JCPC funds from fiscal year 'twenty 3 to the state,” Wolf said.
