Commission holds parking permit request after code and DOT raise issues

Summary
A resident seeking permission to park more vehicles than local code allows said her household has four licensed drivers and up to seven vehicles; code enforcement reported repeated violations and DOT will evaluate a paved area used as an apparent second driveway. Case was held to December for DOT review.
A Cobb County resident requested Nov. 4 that the planning commission approve a temporary land‑use permit allowing more vehicles than the zoning code permits at a Woodley Road property; commissioners held the request to December to allow County Transportation to evaluate an area at the curb that is being used as a second driveway.
Molly Majano, who identified herself as the daughter of the property owner, said four adults live at the home and they each drive for work or school schedules. "We each have our own work and school schedules... We also have an extra vehicle as a backup," Majano said, explaining why the household stored multiple operable vehicles onsite.
Yolisa Foster of Cobb County Code Enforcement told the commission staff received a parking‑standards complaint Aug. 13 and a notice of violation was issued Aug. 14. She said an inspection on Oct. 28 found up to seven vehicles at the property and that prior parking standards issues had been corrected, but the property remained out of compliance with vehicle limits.
DOT representative Wilson Collins told commissioners the curb in front of the property appears to be rollback curbing and that a second driveway could be possible but would require a formal driveway permit; he said he had not yet evaluated whether the property meets criteria to add a second permitted driveway. Commissioners directed the applicant to work with DOT on the paved area used as an apparent second driveway and held the case to the Dec. 2 meeting for DOT follow‑up.
