St. Lucie County proclaims November Diabetes Awareness Month and Nov. 11 Veterans Day

FORT PIERCE, Fla. — The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners on Nov. 4 adopted two proclamations: one declaring November 2025 as Diabetes Awareness Month and another recognizing Nov. 11, 2025 as Veterans Day in St. Lucie County.
Stacy Elliott Pierre, a health-educator consultant with the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County, accepted the diabetes proclamation and described local prevention programs, screening opportunities and the county’s National Diabetes Prevention Program. "It's a lived experience," Pierre said, urging residents to seek early detection and take advantage of community resources.
Veteran-services manager Jose Capillan accepted the Veterans Day proclamation alongside veterans from local organizations. Capillan said his office serves about 30,000 veterans and that the county brings "$428,000,000 in benefits to those veterans," thanking commissioners for the recognition.
Both proclamations passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The county encouraged residents to participate in local awareness and Veterans Day activities.
