St. Lucie County approves land exchange with fire district for training facility

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. — The Board of County Commissioners on Nov. 4 approved a resolution authorizing an exchange agreement that will convey Lot 4 of the Treasure Coast Research & Education Park (Quad 1A) to the St. Lucie County Fire District to support construction of a fire-training facility.
Joanne Riley, director of property acquisitions, said six of the seven lots in Quad 1A are county-owned and Lot 3 is owned by the Fire District. Under the exchange agreement, the Fire District will receive Lot 4 to build a training complex and, in return, provide certain easements to the county and complete civil site work on county parcels, including off-site water detention/retention on Lot 5, a shared parking lot on Lot 4, and additional parking and utility hookups on Lot 3 to serve Sunshine Kitchen.
Riley noted staff had advertised the notice of intent to exchange property in the St. Lucie News Tribune and recommended adoption of Resolution No. 25222 authorizing the exchange. The board approved the resolution, authorized the chair to sign the exchange agreement and directed staff to record the documents in the public records.
Staff will work with the county’s title agent to prepare closing documents and coordinate the civil work described in the exchange agreement.
